My out of town College student son has had an small overheating for quite some time. Trouble Isolation - On his last visit we were able to prove his relay good by swapping his A/C fan relay & his cooling fan relay. By turning on the A/C inside the car it forces the fan to turn on. Next, we were able to use a paper clip in the plug of this sensor to close the circuit to energize the fan. It worked and isolated the trouble to his bad fan temperature switch. Prep & replacement - We opened the petcock at the bottom of his radiator to capture his coolant into an empty water gallon jug, enabling us to recycle it back into his system after the repair. We replaced the switch (sensor) and refilled his radiator with only about half of what we captured. Started the car with the radiator cap off. Keeping an eye on the coolant, once the thermostat opened it would begin bubbling which was purging any of the air trapped in the coolant system, slowly we would add more of the original coolant. We waited until the thermostat cycled twice more, still slowly adding more coolant until we felt comfortable that all air was purged. Which was no coincidence that the coolant we recycled back into system was gone. Job Done>>Good Luck

This cooling fan switch replacement part did not work. The switch was installed on the Honda CRV and would never activate the radiator fan when the car came up to running temperature. I drained the coolant once again and removed the part and decided to test the switch using boiling water. The switch would not activate at the required 200 degree temperature as tested with a continuity meter. I've heard that many of these aftermarket switches do not work and you should buy the original Honda part. I plan to return this one for a refund.
