I chose to get a new versus a re-manufactured unit, as it was only a few dollars more. As such, it was only available for shipping to home, that is fine and it arrived promptly. Unfortunately, that is where the good ended for a while! The outer and inner boxes were damaged as the alternator was only packed with some crinkled up paper. The positive terminal was bent cracking its insulation. I installed the unit and after putting it under load (Max A/C, headlights, courtesy lights, and front and read blower fans on high), the voltage at the battery jumped sporadically from 12.6 to 13.9VDC. Also measuring the output current with a clamp meter, similar was observed with no changes in the load; 50, 90, 80, 125, 60 Amps DC, all in the matter of 10 seconds. During this time, the 'Check Charging System' message appeared in the vehicle information center. I took this unit to the store where they 'checked' it out and proclaiming it was functioning properly. Not satisfied, I called the number on the packing slip and they advised me to take the unit to the store for a refund. Doing so, the manager had one shipped overnight from a store 200 miles away! The next morning I arrive at the store, there is a nice looking box, and the alternator was SECURELY strapped inside preventing it from damage. I installed this one and it works perfectly! Same test as above - the VDC with 2000RPM is about 13.8 and a relatively steady current draw of approximately 90 Amps DC. What should have been an hour job now spanned multiple days, with two unnecessary trips to Advance Auto Parts (AAP) and additional trips for renting/returning a serpentine belt tensioner wrench. I understand the company policy is that if the unit has not been installed and then returned; it is considered new. Well technically this one was new - but as you have read, it failed to meet the customer's expectations of new! A big THANKS to the manager of my local AAP store for turning a pejorative situation around!

Bad, Bad, Bad, do not buy .On third one in 11 months.Store tested 2 more off their shelf also bad. They are are made in China. Ship them back on next boat.Please make them in the USA!!!!!!!!!
