Matched the one I removed in form/fit/function and started the car (2001 VW Golf GLS) right up upon completion of installation. Hope it lasts a few yrs 🙂

The starter is exact replacement, was very easy to replace, and worked as expected. Cannot complain.

Great price, but once again a design with difficult bolt location make it a bit of a pain to change.

I purchased this for a 2005 VW Jetta TDI. It failed twice in a year. This starter is not a viable replacement for the diesel engine. Get a better one.

The starter on my 2002 Jetta had been slowly failing over the past couple of years. Especially in the winter. It had also had a little grinding noise after cold starts. The new starter fits great and starts the car right up. Can't wait to see how it does this winter.

Bought this to install on an '05 New Beetle, 2.0L, automatic transmission. Website said exact fit, so I bought it. Got it home and could not install it. The starter mount hits the crankcase housing before the bolt holes line up, preventing installation. Had to return and buy a more expensive replacement. Very dissatisfied.

Stuck solenoid on the first reman. Starter would NOT stop until you beat it with something. Not cool carquest reman department. The second reman looked ok except the solder job on the solenoid to motor braided wire. It looks like it was NOT replaced in the remanufacturing process. Which isn't a huge deal however when I worked at this facility many a time I had irate customers yelling at me because the quality of the remains are questionable at best

I purchased this starter for My Volkswagon diesel (golf. The starter went out one day after of use 100 miles from home. Advance did everything they could to make sure another starter was ordered for me.If I had it to do over agin I would order the bosch starter even though it is more than twice the price. The fuel that I had to buy to go get the broke down car towing the trailer would probably exceed the price of the bosch starter anyway. The replacement starter is working well so far. I may have simply got a defective starter. A diesel engine requires a lot of power to start.

Seems to be poor quality. I have had to replace it four times in less than a year. The replacement starters were free with the warranty, but install time and poor reliability has left me dissatisfied.
