Bearings fit just right and seem to be heavy duty and I expect them to perform like the original for another 200,000 miles.

so this repair bearing has a seal on both ends, one of those seals protrudes and has a garter spring. i haven't installed it yet (going in a '74 Nova with a Lockrite drop in.) but many have posted that the seal extends beyond the housing, and they either cannot get the c-clips on, or have busted the seal trying. the correct way to install the repair bearing is with the garter seal INBOARD. This will also set the axle deeper in the housing to ride on fresh axle material and you wont have the problem of not being able to install the c-clips The garter spring side is used to keep axle fluid out. the bearing itself is lubricated with wheel bearing grease and has an outboard seal to keep contaminants out. the bearing also has an outer o-ring to keep fluid from moving past the housing. when you install this, make sure the inside of the axle is CLEAN and free from burrs. I would recommend packing additional grease in the bearing side and the space between the seal and bearing. might not hurt to smear a light coat of black rtv on the inboard side of the o-ring as well.

Looked at alot of bearings and for money, this is well worth it. The cheaper ones will only last a year (if that) before they will start making noise and then you will have to take more of your time to replace.

These parts are fine replacements but they are almost all made in China or Korea. I believe the National and NTP brand are made in China. The sad part is, due to GM's original design, these have only cheap ball bearings and wear out if you do any **serious** performance driving, like autocross or road racing. For everyday street driving they are sufficient and will likely last a while. But if you take your Camaro/Firebird to any race track and use larger or R compound tires, they will wear out much faster. And it's not so much the quality of the part as GM's poor design. You'll simply be replacing these a lot if you race. You'll also know that your hubs are worn if, after making a turn or cornering aggressively, your brake pedal is very soft or goes to the floor. This is "pad knockback" from a wobbly hub that presses your brake pads back into the calipers. Time for new hubs!
