I had to modify the cable because it is 2 inches shorter. I cut the outer tube and metal protective covering back so the cable would retract enough to idle correctly. Otherwise once the gas is pressed it would keep the idle engaged even when you let of the gas pedal.
From Aldie, VA
This is for a 95 Jeep Wrangler 2.5l. I was replacing my exhaust system and had to remove the intake and exhaust manifold to replace the exhaust flange studs. When I removed the 20 year old throttle cable from the intake manifold, the housing for the spring broke. I saw this and gave it a try since it said ti would fit. The first thing I noticed is that this replacement does not have a spring at the intake end. I assume the spring keeps the cable tight and gives a good feel. I was able to get the intake side in the square hole. I went to put the other end through the firewall and saw that it was not going to fit. I first tried to shave down the plastic end to get it through the square hole. that didn't work. Then I used a dremel tool to make a notch in the hole through the firewall. That worked like a champ and I was able to get the plastic clip though. I went for a drive and it seems to work fine. Not sure what the lack of a spring at the manifold end will do int he long run. Hopefully it won't kill me.
