I can't really rate the functionality of the rack because I never got that far. The first one I bought had two holes that were stripped. One to attach the hose to the rack itself and one of the banjo bolts (the return to the reservoir). The second one had a leak from the pinion, a faulty seal I suppose, which didn't become obvious until after I had reinstalled everything because that's when the pressure hits the system. Needless to say having to take out the rack a second time was not fun because, as another review mentions, the pinion on these things is not accurately measured. In my case, it was slightly larger than the original. Just enough to make installation nearly impossible. In fact, I wasn't able to get it fully set in the steering column coupler, but due to it's design it was close enough. I mean it was never going to disconnect from the column but getting in that far was no easy task. All the lubricants and prying the coupler open were almost futile. Thus, getting the rack out was a major pain in the neck too. Salt in the wound. I suppose you get what you pay for. Perhaps, the problem is that they're remanufactured. Although, I did buy a new one and had to return because it was missing a piece and didn't fit due to poor craftsmanship/qc. Would I recommend to a friend? No. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. The people at the local Advance were helpful and gave me a full refund even though it was outside of the return window.

The nstalation was a little difficult because Cardone didn't use a calliper to check the pinion.

The rack was faulty out of the box. It would grind when I turned the steering wheel to the right when it was close to the lock. It would only do this in parking lots, but it was still unacceptable. The car would also slow down and could grind to a halt when I did this.
