Well, this power steering pump doesn't leak, but I have had it on there for a couple of months and about 3000 miles and the slight whine it has had since first start-up is not going away, although it did lessen by about a 1/4 in the first couple of weeks. I mean it is not a loud whine, but definitely not quiet like my original (which leaked). I can (and am going to) live with it because it was not the easiest thing to change out....although now I could probably do it in 1/2 or 1/3 the time it took to change it out the first time. It is a little irritating because the old pump had 275,000 miles on it and did not whine one bit except when the fluid got low (just leaked). I flushed it all out and put on both new hoses....and I had the front tires off the ground when I first started it and bled it out per the instructions. In the spring I am going to switch it to Mercon V fluid - the instructions said to use the original fluid which is Type F ('94 Ford Ranger P.U. still uses Type F in the Power Steering, but Mercon in the transmission)........maybe the Mercon V, which is synthetic, will quiet it down some. The power steering hoses I bought through Advance as well - they fit great, although I did shorten the return hose about 3/4" to make it have a smoother curve to the clamp-on connection. I also bought a new Pulley through Advance - it fit and worked great. I am not planning on changing it out, but I will check on the price of a new Motorcraft pump next time - about everything I have seen online says re-manufactured P.S. pumps are prone to whining.
