Triple-checked this item being the right one for replacing my 2001 Ford Ranger's outer tie rod boots. I was skeptical because its size/shape is different that OEM but I was assured by the mfr this item fits my vehicle! Was SUPER careful to apply the right amount of grease before installing. Nonetheless after 6 months both boots are leaking (which is not abnormal) but stretching it out to see inside(it's kind hard to push down on the lip), I can see contamination. It was a big mistake on my part and the bad thing is before purchasing these boots (versus buying the entire outer tie rod), I was suspicious as to whether they will work. What I discounted in the whole process of taking out a tie rod is that one MUST have the vehicle aligned ($90+). So to save $15 I bought the boots instead of the whole outer tie rod. Now I have to replace those boots soon. The damage? over $120 plus my time replacing them and time spent going to the stealership for alignment again. ALL IN ALL, it is NOT worth buying those boots (even if they are free).
