These are supposed to be a temporary fix, but I have had these installed in a 93 6.5l diesel 395cu engine going on roughly 4 to 5 years now. They are much easier to install than the brass/metal replacements in my opinion. When my expansion plugs began to fail, I only replaced most of them. The only reason I purchased these rubber ones is because the local store ran out of the metal plugs. I needed the truck ASAP, so I purchased these as necessary (don't remember exactly how many, but at least 2.) I have a failing water pump right now. I had not been using anti-freeze recently, due to the constant leak, and for cost/environmental reasons. We had deep freeze conditions the last few days and the water in my system froze in the block, causing one of these rubber plugs to simply fall out frozen! They work fine as long as you don't use straight water in your system when temps fall below freezing! Even then they fall out clean, as opposed to the metal - which deteriorates and is often difficult to remove. These have a nut to to tighten or remove the plug. Overall a surprisingly dependable product!
