Most late model vehicles feature four-wheel disc brakes and brake rotors. Rotors play an important role in your braking system. When you press the brake pedal, the calipers cause the brake pads to clamp down on the rotors (also called brake discs) to slow the spinning wheels. Rotors should be replaced when it's time to replace the brake pads on your vehicle. Like brake pads, they should also be replaced in pairs for even stopping performance. Shop Advance for a wide range of OEM-quality brake rotors from brands like Carquest®, ACDelco®, Power Stop® and Brembo.
Advance Auto Parts is your source for ABS parts (Anti-Lock Brake System), including control modules, sensors and hydraulic units. ABS can help prevent wheel lock-up while maintaining traction control during hard braking.
Most rotors are made from cast iron (more specifically, gray iron) because it disperses heat well, which is important to avoid overheating and brake fade. High performance vehicles use ceramic rotors, which are lighter and more stable at high speeds and all temperatures. Some rotors also come 'painted' with a special, rust-inhibiting barrier. This barrier ensures long-lasting protection and like-new appearance.
