Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Universal Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer greater than 3.58 Inch Diameter:
Great product but way to hard to put on the CV joint without the advanced CV boot tools. I gave up and paid the extra money to have the whole CV axle replaced. in the past I have changed out the boots but for the Chevy it was a bit tougher than on my Eagle Talon.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Universal Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer greater than 3.58 Inch Diameter:
This is a universal fit boot but it actually did not fit well at all. The drive shaft end fit well, but the cup side did not fit at all. The cup side had to be trimmed and the end was also ribbed instead of flat so I could not get the clamp on tight enough to keep the boot on. The clamps were flimsy and I had to go back to the store to get more after breaking the first one.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Universal Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer greater than 3.58 Inch Diameter:
This boot is great. I installed it on my Vtec Accord and has performed very well. I will be replacing the other outer boot as it is pretty worn out. I read the reviews about the clamps, if you have never used a clamp, it might be a good idea to read the instructions on there. It is easy to tighten with any type of pliers, just be carefull not to overtighten, and then snip the excess with a set of tin snips. You can tell the quality of the boot by comparing it to the others. You can tell it is very flexible and durable just by feeling the material it is made of. Ask the Sales rep at the store to show you both and you will definately go with the dorman, the other is a stiff plastic that seem will crack soon with the flex an outer boot performs at low and high speeds. Definately recomend and will continue to use.

the boot fit good, but the clamps they give you with it are HORRIBLE!! They wont hold anything. They are very flimsy and cheap. We used different ones cause they wouldnt get tight enough.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Universal Fit C.V. Joint Boot Kit Outer greater than 3.58 Inch Diameter:
The clamps are flimsy the boot has to be cut to fit as is made to use on many different autos. My best advice is buy from the dealership or look for one that has good clamps and fit.

(These boots are installed by slipping over the ends of the shaft, the actual joints will not have to be removed but the shaft will have to be taken out of the vehicle.) I read this and it does not make much sense. if it all slips over everything why does the shaft have to come out?2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The ends of the shaft will have to be removed so that you can slip the boot on the end and move it to the correct position.A:
When you pull the shaft from the axle hub you will see three round balls ,look at the front of the shaft you will find a snap ring that has to be removed and the balls will come off. Then put black electric tape around the shaft this will keep from hurting the boot as you slide it on. Replace the balls and reinstall everything.Q:
Don't you need a special tool to tighten the boot straps? If so what is a part number?2 answers

Dorman makes a special tool that works with this series of boot, it stretches the boot enough to pass over the joint without removing it. Dorman 614-030 about $120. Probably cheaper to take the joint offQ:
