Q:
I have a 2004 Ranger 4.0. Do I need the gasket and seal to install a new thermostat?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, a new gasket and a bead of RTV silicone should be placed on the intake manifold and on the bottom of the thermostat intake tube. Allow the silicone to firm according to the directions of the RTV manufacturer. The curing time will vary depending on the brand you use.Place the paper thermostat gasket for the Ranger on top of the RTV silicone that was placed on the intake manifold and then place the thermostat intake tube on top of the gasket and bolt it back into place.Q:
Do I need one gasket or 2. I have a new thermostat and a o ring seal but do I also need one for the housing as well.1 answer

I was given a large O-ring and this flat gasket. It's obvious where the O-ring goes but I can't find a flat seal anywhere. Is this for a different thermostat and given to me to make sure I had the right one of two different ones? Does it fit at the bottonm of the thermostat instead of the top? ????1 answer
A:
if there is a slice in it it goes around the thermostat itself
