Comments about Mobil1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-140 (1 qt.):

Used on my personal vehicle; 2001 Chevy 2500 HD Crew Cab for years on the rear. Using the Mobil 1 75W90 on the front with no problems for years as well.
No disadvantage, only benefits to using synthetics and if anything, the more we switch to them we (the consumer) save money in the long run by using a better product then dino oil. The country also would use less oil.
A good 2nd choice would be Amsoil. They do not have the market penetration like a major oil company does with Mobil 1 but that may be a good thing?

When you factor in that this has the LS fluid already in the product, and the use of an Advance Auto coupon, it becomes a cost-effective solution to changing your differential fluids per the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.

This gear oil appears to meet the requirements for heavy duty Ford's requiring 75W140 synthetic gear oil with friction modifiers. There are not too many brands to choose from when buying from a local store.

Does this gear lubricant absorb water? I was told the original Ford synthetic does not, we launch a boat and were told to use gear lubricant which absorbs water to avoid any possible corrosion.
