Comments about Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint:

This is a good product, except for the nuts that come with it, be sure to keep your original nuts so you can use them. The nuts that come with this item are very flimsy and will strip as soon as any pressure is applied to them, also have some nuts handy to replace the installation nuts, these will strip out before you get to the required 50 ft.lb. torque. I would only recommend these to a friend if they had the right items to make these work.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint:

Bought a pair of these as they came up as an inspection item. The idea is if your DUrango has never had the ball joints replaced, you have to remove the factory rivets first. (you need an angle grinder to make that easy) Then, after grinding the heads off you can use a punch to knock the remaining rivet down through.
They supply a set of nuts and bolts to use in place of the knocked out rivets. Heres where I had my problem. The nuts didnt really thread onto the bolts all that well, you could see that the threads were getting damaged on all of them as I tightened them. Two of them tightened up. One of them stripped completly at the end, and I wasnt even using the torque wrench yet, only two small hand ractchets. Then of course, the nut would not come back off so I wound up grinding the head off the bolt that stripped and replacing it with another. Just be sure if you run into this that you dont use a low grade hardware store bolt...it NEEDS to be an 8.8 or better for safety's sake. I have to do the other side tomorrow, I may just use three of my own bolts from the start. As for durability of the unit? Who cares, after doing them once and grinding out the factory rivets, it would be a breeze doing it again.

Time will tell how well they last. The only issue I have is that the lock nuts and bolts that they send are cheap....had to us the old ones since the ones they send strip easy.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint:

I just installed these on my wifes Durango so time will tell if they will last. This vehicle is notorious for being rough on the Upper Ball Joints any way. so if they last a couple of years for the price I would certainly have no complaints. They seem to be of good quality and I like the fact that they have grease fittings rather than being a sealed unit like most.
