This part takes some time to change but it is far better than the factory piece because it has a grease fitting so it can be lubricated during normal service intervals. Took some pounding to get out and some creativity to press back in. I did not remove the entire lower control arm- if you do than I recommend using a hydraulic press to make the job easier.

These ball joint are so poorly made for their application it's ridiculous. The boot is too short and when the joint pivots the boot slides off it's seat and this will let the elements in (no they don't snap in place). If they were longer (like they should be) the steering knuckle would hold the boot in place. I should have spent the money on a better joint. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint:
Got 2 of these because i just replaced the top ball joints. I have a 95 Explorer it was supposed to be a perfect fit sadly it was not! Both ball joints were too long for my 95 Explorer. After i installed them they stuck out too far grinding against my rims. I tried everything to make sure it was not something else causing it then i put the old ones back on and no problems at all. May fit other Ford models but not a 95 Explorer 4 wheel drive.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint:
DO NOT BUY FOR THE 2000 FORD EXPLORER!! the lower shaft of the ball joint will scrape your rim. you will have to grind a 1/4 inch of the lower shaft off to prevent your rim from getting damaged.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint:
The balljoint installed correctly, However it would be better if the rubber boot was taller so as to seal the gap between the joint and the spindle.

Comments about Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint:
Replace ball joints in 1998 explorer at around 110,00 miles. Figured I would go the cheaper route with these and they should last the life of the vehicle. At around 125,000 miles I started to notice front end issues. Spent about an hour trying to determine the issue and could not find anything wrong. Never would have guessed the > 20,000 mile ball joints were going bad..... The boots on both sides were cracking and their was slop. Unfortunately I did not save receipt. These were supposed to be lifetime. Not sure if the design has been updated or not but having to redo the ball joints this quickly leads me to believe these are complete junk.
Long story short, I am doing ball joints again. This time I am going with the Moog's.

i have a 99 ford ranger 2wd that need all ball joints replaced.this sight has just balljoints only that say exact fit for my truck, however, haynes manual says must replace upper and lower control arms. i'm a little confused.. have already ordered just balljoints. Help!1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
With reference to your inquiry on Driveworks Suspension Ball Joint - Part No. DW-K8695T, the control arm is a lasting product and hence there is no harm in replacing the ball joints alone. Replacing a set of ball joints requires separating the control arms from the steering knuckles, a job which can be difficult depending on the design and age of the vehicle. This is the reason most stores/manuals recommend the control arm replacement instead of the ball joint. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.Q:
