The OEM starter had a spade connector that was exposed to outside elements. This is said to be the cause of above normal incidence of failure (which is my experience). Replacement starter came with a wire attached to the starter (via nut)and a crimp connector on the other end (with shrink tubing surround). I was able to cut off the spade connector and crimp to the wire from the starter. Heating the heat shrink tubing provided a water proof seal.

Almost identical as OEM starter. Exact fit for my '95 F-150 302ci (5.0L). Recommend inspecting the starter out of the box and check tightness of wire connections (nuts). INCLUDES instructions for the wire modification. The small wire on the solenoid wasn't that tight so I "snugged" it up a little. My truck is old (17 yrs) and wires are dry and brittle so take your time and be careful not to make more work by braking wires, especially when cutting off the spade connector and stripping the insulation on the ignition wire and connecting it to the crimp connector on the starter. I tried to melt the heat shrink tube using a hair dryer but it was not hot enough so I used a long butane grill lighter (torch) to heat shrink the ignition wire insulation covering the starter crimp connector. If you use this technique BE CAREFUL not to catch anything on fire. (might want to wipe up any access oil/grease on the engine). Took me about an hour to replace because I like to take my time and also my dog was helping and asking a lot of questions so she slowed me down a bit.

I didn't need it buy the time I bought the starter, but the Ford truck can be difficult to troubleshoot. Free troubleshooting support comes with this starter.

This warranty is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase or any longer warranty period that may be printed on your original sales receipt. In addition, you must be the original purchaser of the part and still own the vehicle on which it was installed. This warranty cannot be transferred to anyone at any time. We will, at our option, replace or refund your money for any part that we sell that fails during the warranty period. To obtain cash refund, you must comply with the Warranty Period and Applicability obligations described above and, in addition return the part to an Advance Auto Parts store along with your original sales receipt within 90 days from the date of purchase.
