This starter was installed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L 6cyl. The orientation of the starter puts it right underneath the oil filter, and on many of these 6 cyl Jeeps, there is an oil leak that drips right onto the starter, killing it. The body, soleniod, and wire,on the remanufactured starter, are all sealed with silicone. This helps to keep out oil and water and any moisture that might get into the starter and destroy it. The original starter didn't have any sealer on the body and oil seeped in and caused it to seize up one very cold morning. This starter also came with a limited lifetime warranty, so if it dies ANY TIME within the life of the vehicle it will be replaced FREE.

Replaced my original starter with this unit in a '97 Cherokee for what turned out to be a Neutral Safety Switch issue. Still, since original was over 180K miles, I left this new one in place. Worked fine until last week and then no start. Had Advance test and it was bad after 6 months of 'normal' use. This is why they have a lifetime warranty on their parts. You always run that chance of getting a dud with a re-manufactured part....but I was sure that "it could not be the starter since i just replaced it a few months ago..."

Comments about Worldwide Starter:
The starter was easy to install. Removing the old one was a bit of a pain though, as obstacles like the frame & transmission required a swivel and about 18" of extensions to be able to get a turn on the rear bolt. The new one seems to be working fine though; spins up fast after just barely hitting the key.

Q:
which connector is the postive terminal, and also hooked two starters up and still clicking when try to turn over any suggestions?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
With reference to your inquiry on the Autocraft Battery Acid - part# CYCLE ACID, not all 12 volt batteries actually use acid. Lead/acid storage batteries do, however, and in those the acid is generally 4-5 molar sulfuric acid. "How much" acid depends on the volume of the battery. Some batteries are physically larger than others but for a rough figure you can assume that somewhere around 30% of the liquid by mass is sulfuric acid. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.Q:
I am fairly mechnically inclined. Is this easy to install?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For installation, I would recommend purchasing a repair manual.Q:
what makes your new stater engage when you hook up the battery with the keys on the seat1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It sounds as though you either have the battery cable hooked up to the wrong terminal on the starter or the starter relay is stuck closed.
