The Starter came w/ the solenoid and the remanufactured substitute was four hundred percent less than the original. Well worth substituting this in a van w/ over 100,000 miles. Only if you had a valuable Classic car is it worth paying the high price for the original.

I WAS TALKED INTO TRYING THIS REPAIR WITH A FRIEND. EVERYTHING WORKED OUT JUST FINE. INSTALLED NO PROBLEMS - 1.5 HOURS.

Replaced it on a 02 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. Couldn't have done it without help. Make sure to have a deep 15 mm socket. You will need it for the top mounting bolt. They starter didn't line up properly the first time so make sure it is flat to the mounting surface before you start tightening up. Had to turn the gear a little and try again.

I'm not sure how close it would be but probably fairly close. I just changed the starter in a 2000 Caravan and if you can handle wrenches and sockets you should be fine. Probably. The clicking could be the starter relay kicking in. The solenoid on the starter is probably going bad. That used to ba a separate part but now comes as a whole unit. Eventually it will quit starting completely.Answered on 2/4/2010 by indiangiver1 from middle, ga
