Rebuilt starter was installed and worked for less than a week before failing to engage. I found that the solenoid connector block was loose and that twisting it allowed the internal connection to be made well enough to limp home.
The design and method of securing this connector block in the rebuilt is inferior to the OEM method. The cardboard tag warning against twisting this connector was read and followed. They need to caution people about this because the connection is apparently too fragile to survive normal installation stress. The old starter with 200,000 miles on it had this connector still intact and not turning. I would expect this to be a frequent cause of warranty claims on this model.

Comments about Worldwide Starter:
I was somewhat reluctant to attempt this repair initially but when I saw that I could replace it entirely from the top (without rolling around under the vehicle), that I'd save $400 AND get a limited lifetime warranty (only 12 months from the dealer) I decided to give it a try. I allowed 4 hours for the project and completed in 1 hour and 20 min start to finish. Works out to about $200 per hour the way I figure it. Luckily I had all the tools necessary which consisted of metric end wrenches and sockets, 3 different extensions, universal and ratchet - that's it. If you have the tools and talent give it a try. Added bonus - NOT made in China!

Comments about Worldwide Starter:
I purchased a starter for my Toyota since the 13 yr old one was wearing out. Now with the new starter the engine turns over and I don't need to worry about being stranded. If you have a Toyota Avalon and your starter is going, then this one will work. I cannot comment on how to use this product other than as a starter, but perhaps as a doorstop if so inclined, however, that seems a bit odd when a can of paint would work just as well. The starter did seem easy to install, but I was only watching my neighbor do it for me.

CUSTOMER CARE
A:
With respect to your inquiry on the Airtex Fuel Pump Module Assembly - Part No. E3506M, follow these steps to remove the starter on a 2003 Lexus ES300 V6: Remove battery, remove air cleaner inlet assembly, remove air cleaner assembly with hose, remove air cleaner bracket, remove air cleaner inlet No.1, remove starter assembly. While removing the starter assembly you will have to disconnect the starter connector, remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from terminal 30 and remove the two bolts and starter. Once the 2 bolts are removed, wiggle the starter and pull back away from the transmission and the lock type smaller wires will come out clearly. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.Q:

Is this starter hard to install? If I CAN I will istall myself.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Well this all depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
