Mr. Gasket Starter Motor Heat Shield

The starter motor heat shield is designed with heat resistant material sandwiched between two aluminum plates. The shield protects the starter from heat buildup from the exhaust system, especially important when using headers. Fits Chevy small and big block and V6.

If you use this product make sure that the shield is not touching any wires. I installed it on my 82 Vette and I thought I had all wires out of the way. When the shield heated up from being so close to exhaust down pipe, it melted the insulation of the big #4 ga wire coming from the battery, shorted it to the shield and started a fire under the hood. I removed the shield and will not putting it back on.
