On your tranny there is a cable that runs from there to your firewall, it should be in the back if you can see your axle from the top you should be able to see your speedometer. Its right next to it.

  • Q:

is this the cable that connects to the transmission because i ordered a speedometer cable but it is only 12 inches long and on the box it looks like there's a different cable going to the transmission. I have oil coming into my car from underneath my steering wheel and i was told that it is because my speedometer cable is pinched.

This is the cable that goes into the casing; one end goes to the transmission fitting and the other goes to the speedometers head.

      A:

It seems your 1991 dodge spirit had changed over to a sensor from cable. If it had a cable, it would be very easy to find. It would go from the transmission housing all the way through the firewall into the instrument cluster.
