Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Speed Sensor, Rear Differential:
Speed Sensor installed exactly as it was supposed to. There was no bolt provided with it, so I had to use the original. I started the Ranger up immediately upon finish and was happy to find the ABS dashboard trouble light was no longer illuminated. 2.5 months later and it is still working just fine. Saved about 75% over cost of Ford's OEM part.

I have a 1992. Aerostar minivan 3.0L V6. when I start the vehicle in the morning the odometer does not show the mileage which happens to be digital or the speed at which I'm traveling. I will drive for about a mile and all of a sudden the speedometer needle shots from zero to 35 or more and the odometer will start counting the mileage. Could this be a bad speed sensor which is causing a blank odometer reading on the instrument cluster and delaying the shifting of the transmission?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, the speed sensor may be the possible cause of the problem as the computer (ECU) receives the information it needs to have a car operate properly from strategically located vehicle speed sensors. It uses the information from vehicle speed sensors for the speedometer display. Automatic transmissions must have the information from a vehicle speed sensor to decide shift strategy. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.Q:

Yes, this Dorman - OE Solutions Speed Sensor, Rear Differential - part# 970-012 is an exact fit for your 1999 Ford F150. The speed sensor should be located on the top of the rear axle housing. It is a small bolt and a bracket that hold it in place. To replace it, it just takes removing the electrical conector with the two wires, removal of the bolt and retaining bracket, and put the new one in the hole followed by the retaining bracket and bolt, and finish by connecting the electrical connector.
