I have a brand new set of AC Delco R45TS spark plugs that were purchased for my 1987 Chev G20,5.7L (350) V8, many years ago. Are these the right plugs? They differ from the exact plug listed.

Spark Plugs: "Manufacturer Heat Range" (1 thru 10?)

What do the numbers represent? i.e. Is a rating of 8 lower or higher in heat tolerance.

                  Thank you in advance.

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

With reference to this ACDelco Spark Plug - part# CR43TS, a spark plug is said to be "hot" if it is a better heat insulator, keeping more heat in the tip of the spark plug. A spark plug is said to be "cold" if it can conduct more heat out of the spark plug tip and lower the tip's temperature. Whether a spark plug is "hot" or "cold" is known as the heat range of the spark plug. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.

                • Q:

The top center electrode just "came out" in one plug and stayed in the spark plug wire end. The plugs are less than a year old, so I'm wondering if this is covered under warranty?

My uncle accidentally lost the center piece.

                  Thanks.

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

If you've got fire, then it's got to be something with the fuel. When my 1992 Chevy Silverado did this, I too changed out everything you did. Turns out it was my fuel pump.
