Water pump is good product but the gaskets that come with it are not so good, spend the extra 2.50 and get another set of gaskets

It worked BUT!!
Gasket surfaces rough from shot blasting with nicks and raised metal. Needed to be filed smooth before installation.

My 2002 Sonoma was starting to weep so I didn't delay this repair; glad I did >> not only breakdown avoided I also realized replacement removed a background noise I never noticed. Going on 200k on the 4.3 and very happy with the part from AA.

Install special tool J-41240-1 or a similar clutch-holding tool into the water pump access holes. This will prevent the clutch from turning as you release the fan clutch nut. Install special tool J-41240-2 or similar fan clutch hub wrench on the fan clutch nut. Then insert a breaker bar on the special tool square hole to remove the fan and clutch assembly from the vehicle.Answered on 2/13/2012 by John the Car-Doc from AAP

The difference between the New and Remanufactured Auto Parts :New Auto Parts- New auto parts have never been used and were recently completed at the assembly line at the manufacturer’s factory, whereas, Remanufactured Auto Parts- Remanufacturing automotive parts is very much like assembling new parts except that many of the components are taken from used parts, especially the housing. In remanufacturing, the part must be completely disassembled, cleaned and examined for wear and breakage. Worn out, missing or non-functioning components are replaced with new or rebuilt components. Electrical parts frequently need rewinding or rewiring. After all work is done, the part is reassembled and tested for compliance with performance specifications to ensure they meet all OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) tolerances, durability, and quality guidelines. IT IS A RIGHT HAND THREAD. I replace my water pump and I turn it to the right side to get the fan clutch out. but you have to lock up the propeller behind the water pump plate to get the fan clutch bolt to loosen easier.Answered on 9/11/2010 by Expert At Fixing from California
