Bought this after reading the good reviews and also the price. Easy to install, but maybe a month later and a tow bill, along with a diagnostic cost, the altenator was no good....Read complete review

This was a replacement part. Initial evaluation is that it is a suitable replacement for OEM. No problems with install. If it holds up, it's a good value.

Installed on a Ford Ranger. Was easy to install, three bolts for mount. Look for the one on bolt lower left side, have to feel for it. Can't be seen except from below. Getting the belt back on was a bit of a challenge, used a 3/8" inch breaker bar and had to put a pipe on it for extra leverage. Connecting the battery cable was simple and the included nut and washer was nice. Two plastic connectors plug right in and done. Removed the old alternater before going to Advanced Auto Parts so that I did not have to pay the core charge or return to the store for credit with the old one.

I was expriancing some issue and was not sure if the power sterring pump or one of the items that runs on the belt, but we found out when it left us on the side of the road. I am just glad it was the alternater and not the water pump as it was much easier to install.

alternator look good out of box. cant really say at this time if any better or worse than the higher priced ones. Only tiem will tell if any issues occur

Product is great. Got rid of that horrid screeching. Havnt gotten my coupon from the black friday deal though :[ could really use it to get some nice stuff. Was a gift from my girlfriend.

Replacing alternators really is not a problem, accessing the alternator is usually the main problem. Sometimes alternators can be hard to access. I recommend looking at a local Advance Auto Parts store for a repair manual for your vehicle. It should be able to give you step by step instructions on how to replace the alternator.Answered on 5/5/2010 by Mike from AAP
