I purchased this little nugget while trying to trouble shoot a 1996 Honda Accord LX. I was having issues starting the vehicle sometimes and of all the options available to me, this was the cheapest. It ultimately ended up being a blown head gasket, but this little part was rather cheap and so freaking easy to install, that I couldn't help myself. I figure some are asking how this part could get mixed up with a blown head gasket...so here we go: The vehicle was not starting very sparatically and this part was step one. But after the white smoke started pouring out of the exhaust like the space shuttle Challenger on take off, I knew it had to be the head gasket.

Part was in stock and fit exactly like the original part. It solved a problem that I have had for a couple of years now-hard starts in hot summer conditions. My car seems to run better and the idle speed is very consistant which eliminated the shifter vibration when stopped at traffic lights (a common condition in older Hondas).

Q:
I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX. When the car had been shut off, after running at operating temperatures, when I try to start the car again (usually after 5-10 minutes) the fuel pump will not run. If I wait another 15-20 minutes the vehicle will eventually engage the fuel pump and the car will operate with out issue. This is not only related to hot summer days, this can happen on other days as well, but seems to be directly related to an engine that has been shut off at operating temperature and is restarted a few minutes later. I'm assuming the relay, but are there other possible items that could cause this symptom?

Q:
Our 1994 Accord 4 cyl with auto and AC, will not start. The engine won’t crank even when using jumper cables. The accessories come on but the engine won’t turn over at all. The fusible link is good and the 7.5 amp fuse for the starter (in the fuse box inside the vehicle) is also good. If the accessories (radio, fan, power windows) get power and operate when the key is turned does this mean the ignition switch is functioning properly? A new ignition switch is over $100. I was told that there is a relay on the underneath of the vehicle that could be the cause of the failure to crank and thus not start. My options are to get under the vehicle and find and then replace this relay or get the vehicle towed to a shop for repair. I am leaning towards getting it towed. Advice or comments appreciated. my 92 honda accord sometimes won't go into 1st gear. when i'm go to pull out it goes straight into 2nd. its an automatic and sometimes 2nd gear is all i've got. i was pulling out a fuse under the hood for 10 secs. to reset it and that would work. if i manually put it in 1st gear it works. i was told it was probably my relay switch. could this be the case or is it something else? please helpAsked on 9/24/2010 by curly from new lexington, ohio1 answer
