Having never installed a remote start but owning two cars that had it installed I missed it. This was a gift for my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder so I thought an older model would be easier. Overall it took me basically two good days to get all the features operational to include door locking and alarm disarm and arm. Watch the videos and take notes if needed, I would get stuck and sit down to give up but watch the videos again and realize where I made an error. Getting the remote start working was fairly straight forward but the unlock and locking features plus all the other options took some time. I would recommend this product to anyone considering it comes with an immobilizer bypass system too. It is a very feature rich and programmable system that would easily cost $300 to $400 with install at most places I checked into.

My review is for a remote keyless entry purchased from my local Advance Auto.....but falls in line with most of the rest of ready remote product reviews. Anyone else suspect that the good reviews are from this companies employees?

Packaging implies that there is installation support. The included installation instructions of less than 200 words are only adequate for an experienced remote installer. I searched their terrible web site and downloaded some vehicle specific info...that turned out to be wrong. I googled the company behind this mess - directed elec - and found helpful installation instructions for another product they market. It was after I called the number in that manual to order a remote door actuator that I decided to return the remote keyless unit to Advance Auto. The people that market this unit will give NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT INCLUDING TELLING YOU WHAT ADDITIONAL PRODUCTS THEY MAKE SO THAT YOU CAN USE THEIR PRODUCT!

Now that's customer service. Also be sure to check out your "lifetime warranty". Turns out a lifetime is one year.

The manual seems to have been poorly translated. Be prepared to sit on hold for customer support for 30+ minutes.

Additional relays will probably be required.

Company offered no real guidance on factory alarm disarm. Special wiring and relay are probably required.

Overall, it took me 12+ hours to install this in a 2001 Dodge Stratus Sedan. Brake pedal wire is incredibly difficult to access and solder. Once installed it works great.

However, it blows the car's 20 amp starter fuse when the car has been started with the unit and it times out after 12 minutes. Remote Starter turns off when key is inserted and brake pedal is depressed.

Bottom Line, it's well worth it to pay to have this installed.

This product is a piece of junk. Was told it was easy to install, WRONG. Was told the company would help if needed, WRONG. Was told that if it didn't work properly with my '03 Dodge Ram 1500, that I could return it, WRONG. The company provides no help, and now I'm out my money because this piece of trash won't work. DO NOT buy this, DO NOT buy anything from the manufacturer.

I purchased two of these to install it in a Honda and a Pontiac Vibe. The product states easy to install, it comes with an instructional video, which tells you little and states that you can call or email for tech support, all lies, no one answered the phone calls I made, and no one returned my messages, or responded to my emails. After 8 plus hours of trying, I managed to figure it out on my own, for the record I am an electrical engineer and I understands circuits; that is what I do for work, I have analyzed every wire inside a nuclear power plant to designate its safety function, well over 1/2 million wires. This device needs only 7 to 10 wires to be connected yet the company provides a lousy instruction booklet for do it yourselves. If you have good instructions, you should be able to do it in about 3 hours. Unless you have difficulty finding the wires, especially the wires inside the door. In any case, DO NOT even try to install this device if you have no previous background in installing these devices. I have not tried to install it in the Vibe yet, hopefully that should be much easier.

Before I made this purchase, I downloaded the specific wiring information for my vehicle along with the detailed installation instructions available on their website. I also contacted their technical service line to confirm this model would fit my vehicle.

For DIY, you'll need a digital voltmeter and typical electrical tools. Wiring is critical for correct operation.

The remote has some programmable features you can change to suit your needs such as changing the number of times the remote button is pressed to initiate the starter. The default is "one" time but can be changed to "two" times for example. If your vehicle has keys that contain transponder chips, you will need to sacrifice a spare transponder key to intall into the bypass module that comes with the unit.

Installation is tricky but if you are thorough and careful, the system works great. This model is a remote starter only and does not include door lock or unlock features. These are available on other models.

My installation was on a 2008 Nissan Frontier CC.

Great product to warm up the vehicle that sits outside in the winter.

You must access the detailed installation information on their website for your model and the wiring information for your vehicle to do the installation yourself. You will also need a digital voltmeter along with typical electrical tools. Be through and consise in your testing of wiring and termination of wiring. I had to phone their tech service representatives two times to clear up questions.

This unit is for a vehicle with an automatic transmission and is a remote starter only. It does not lock and unlock doors. The remote is programmable to change some of the features such as whether you want to press the button "once", (which is the default mode), or "twice" to start the vehicle.

I installed on a 2008 Nissan Frontier CC with good success.

This is a great basic remote start system. Works great, easy to use, and the range is very decent if the antenna is high-mounted as prescribed in the installation guide. The additional features, namely the vehicle locator (flashing park lights) and valet takeover (keep engine running with key off ignition) are actually pretty useful as well.Installation is very straightforward, but as one other reviewer mentioned, things are so much easier with additional online reference materials. In addition to the supplied booklet, use this installation guide for another Ready Remote model (disregard the additional functions) for help on the kit's wiring and connections:[@]fFor help on your specific vehicle's wiring, the following site is a great help and very accurate[@]Review your information and the kit, and go through the installation in your head to identify any potential problems before they actually put you in a jam. Then just do the work carefully, and you'll be fine.I should note that I installed this on my old work truck, a '98 Dodge Ram, which has no power locks, immobilizer, or any other features that would have made installation more complicated. For these types of vehicles, I think this kit is perfect.Additionally, disregard another reviewer's complaint that it's too easy to accidentally remote start vehicle with one button press; that was ignorance on her part and perhaps laziness on the part of the installer she hired. If she had read the manual it clearly shows how you can easily reprogram the system to take 2 or even 3 button presses to initiate start. No special equipment required to reprogram.
