1999 Honda Civic Hatchback, 1600cc (1.6) liter (listed as 1590 or 1595 cc) SOHC 16 valve. Engine type: DI6Y7. Canadian build.
Comments refer to above vehicle.
Sizing: This radiator is the exact same size as the original radiator which was made by Denso. The only exception is the top housing which is about 1/2" deeper. The extra depth on the top housing does not affect installation and fit. The top housing is also about 3/8 inches higher on the right side(looking at it from the front of the vehicle), but equal to the height of the original on the left side. It fits under the left, top chassis with the same clearance as the original.
All fittings, except for the tram cooling tubes, which are about 3/8 inch longer, are the same size and are in the same positions. The slightly longer tram tubes leave the tram cooler hoses about 1/2 inch from the base of the tubes as opposed to a snug fit to the base of the original tubes. We did not see any leaks so far.
The aluminum cooling core (just the core) measures 14 7/8 in wide by 13 7/8 high by 5/8 inches deep. (same as original)
The radiator came with a radiator cap having the same manufacturer markings as the original cap. There were plastic caps on the tram tubes.
Construction: The core is aluminum. The concentration of cooling fins per square inch in the original is much greater than in this aftermarket replacement. The top and bottom housings of the replacement are plastic alloys.
The top coolant inlet fitting is a plastic alloy as opposed to metal on the original. The bottom outlet fitting is also plastic alloy, but so is the original. We spoke with two professional mechanics who said that all of the aftermarket radiators come with more plastic, less metal.
Installation: No alterations were required.
Note: We blew through the tram cooler tubes to be sure the tram cooler had the same back-pressure as the original. It did.
Performance: The radiator has been running for a week in ambient temperatures of 40 to 60 degrees.
When the engine is at normal operating temperature, The dashboard temperature needle gauge remains at the same set point as it did with the original radiator.
Bottom Line: a good aftermarket replacement, so far. We still need to see how it runs in extreme summer and winter temperatures.
Not on the same quality level as the original, but a good value for the price. A professional mechanic told us they do tend to hold up over time. We shall see for ourselves.

I replaced my original 16 year old Honda Civic radiator with this radiator. It was working great for 2 months. It started leaking from the top seam. I brought it back and they gave me another one. I am hoping to get a few years out of this radiator. It would be better to charge a little more than [$] and get a better quality product. The Honda dealer wants [$] for a new radiator. Maybe I just got the lemon. It would be nice if Advance Auto Parts published how many defective units are being sold for every 100 units, so you have some idea of the quality of the product you are buying.

Comments about Ready-Rad Radiator:
worked out fine even though it was for automatic and had trans cooler the corrrect one from honda was over 350 bucks which nmakes this a great deal...checked on cv axle from honda...alm ost 400 dollars...will buy one from advance instead and save alot of money. as a mechanic advance has affordable options that are of high quality and are cost effective even if u had to replace 3 or four times a oem part is cost prohibitive. I use advance online to save time and get great promotional deals...i suggest it.

Comments about Ready-Rad Radiator:
I bought this radiator after I found the radiator in my mothers car leaking. After examining the contents of the box, I could not believe that a radiator cap was not included. Who sells a radiator without a new cap? Also, the ATF (Automatic Tranmission Fluid) cooler hardware was incorrect. The diameter of the ATF Cooler hardware is too small. I had to make a second trip to a parts store for a new cap and adjustable cooler clamps. Because of this, a very easy job turned into a very frustrating job. I would not recommend this radiator to anyone.

Comments about Ready-Rad Radiator:
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I don't know how reliable it will be in the long run. So far, 500 miles and no complaints. BTW-(if you have a manual)- you don't have to do Aanything with the transmission lines.

dose anybody make a solid metal radiator1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Unfortunately we do not have stainless steel or cast iron radiators available with us. Most of the Radiators are made of Aluminium as Aluminum is lightweight compared to other types of metal. If you have a crack or leak in a standard radiator, you usually have to replace the unit. But a technician can weld cracks in an aluminum radiator and get it back in operable condition. Aluminum radiators are very durable and resistant to cracking or bending, even at very hot temperatures. Aluminum is a recyclable metal, so it's beneficial for the environment too.Q:
