Comments about Autolite Professional Series Ignition Coil On Plug Boot:
This was replaced on a 2004 Ford E-350 Van. They were hard to get at but once there, they were easy to install. The old boots were weathered and dry rot. Simple replacement once all the other parts were taken out of the way.

Comments about Autolite Professional Series Ignition Coil On Plug Boot:
Exact OEM replacement, easy to install although getting at the back coils is tricky. Make sure you have diaelectric grease to put on the end going over the spark plug.

Q:
Have a 2001 F-150 4.6 V-8. I've got the correct replacement spark plugs in my cart, but I'm looking for the coil that goes with each plug. The boots are fine. Is the coil sold separately or do I need to purchase the plug and boot combo? Please advise ASAP as I need to finalize my order this evening. 5:48 pm EST. Thanks.1 answer

when changing the original coil boot to these, should you reuse the original "contact" on the end of the old spring, or do you only install the new spring and boot and then reinstall the coil. i tried to install with using the old contact on the new spring and felt alot of resistance pressing the boot onto the spark plug but eventually got it. but now my vehicle will start but shut off almost immediately.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Generally, the rubber boot used to insulate the connection between the coil and spark plug is first to fail. The seal of the insulator boot at the cam cover is not adequate which results in moisture seeping in and around the spark plugs. The moisture, when combined with the large factory spark plug gaps (which are at least 0.055" or higher, and get worse with age) causes sparks to ground out on the cylinder head, rather than across the spark plug gaps, which results in failure of the insulator boot. Once the boot fails ignition coil failure is not far behind since it becomes overloaded by the excessive voltage grounding out on the cylinder head. Replacement of the damaged insulator boots can go a long way to solving driveability problems and ensuring that you do not have an expensive ignition coil failure. It is recommended to replace the complete ignition coil assembly which includes ignition coil, spring, suppressor and boot.
