This pump did fix the problem I had with my old pump. I bought this pump with the resevoir because I thought I had to. We ended up having to swap almost all of the parts from the old pump over to this new one. It was almost like building your own power steering pump by the time we were done. You need a pulley install/removal too also. We broke the pulley trying take parts off and had to go buy a new one, which then required the pulley tool. Maybe it's normal to have to swap most of the parts from the old part to the new, but we had to swap over half of the parts. It may have been easier to buy one without the resevoir. Overall, the new pump worked though, which is what matters the most. It was just a hard job unless you have some experience and the right tools. It isn't just a part you can remove the old one and plug this one in. At least not with the 2000 Grand Am.

Is nice that this already has the tank attached, but you will need a special tool to remove your pulley from your old pump and to install it on the new pump. Once I installed this pump it worked fine, but has a little whine to it, especially when turning the wheel in either direction. So far so good though, the whine hasn't gotten any worse after several hundred miles on it and really isn't noticeable with the hood closed. Only time will tell, but I think next time I'll buy NEW instead.

Comments about Fenco Power Steering Pump:
In order to remove from the vehicle the pulley had to be removed first. Advance provided a good tool, but w limited space and rusted on pulley it would not come off. A new pulley sold for $17, so after 2 hours of trying I took the easy way out and broke off the plastic pulley.

Comments about Fenco Power Steering Pump:
I am not impressed with this product. It is just barely better than the worn out one I took off. After 2 weeks it is noisy. it is louder than the engine. I plan to run it for 30 days, if it does quiet down I will return for replacement, but will probably pay for a higher price part. Very discouraging.

there are several power steering pumps for this model. Apparently this one doesn't fit my 2000 pontiac grand am V6. Have to search by VIN.

O.E.M. pulley is plastic - pulley removal tool essential - think new pulley should be mounted and supplied with pump
