Comments about Metra Power Antenna:
Described as "Universal" and "Exact fit", it took me 5 hours to install. I was able to get the fender installation nut on about one thread as it isnt long enough , even after discarding half the gaskets and parts. Wiring instructions were no help at all, do not follow them if you insist on buying this. The antenna does not connect to my vehicles antenna, requiring a 26 dollar part that nobody carrys. Online customer service was given begrudgingly, and their info could and should have been printed in the instructions to begin with. If you buy this, you need to have plenty of time and ability to modify theyre parts, and make your own. I cannot comment on its reception as i have to order the antenna adaptor, fork out more bucks, and wait for delivery.

Comments about Metra Power Antenna:
Antenna is advertised as exact replacement, but it isn't. However, I'm sure the reason for this, is because it will be used for so many different applications. Additionally, this antenna appears superior to the original because it is geared internally instead of the cheap wound plastic gearing that was original. The original broke because it was not built as well as this one. If you need a new Power Antenna, this would be a definite good buy. Installation on my Cadillac Seville was a snap. The hardest part of the job was getting to the antenna to change it. Included hardware and all electrical fittings were sufficient to complete the installation. The antenna connection and the included wiring were all more than long enough for probably any installation. Instructions were simple enough for most anyone to understand. Highly recommended!!

Comments about Metra Power Antenna:
As one reviewer said the polarities are wrong. If that was the only problem then I would be a happy camper( just hooked it up opposite of the instructions).I can no longer get my HD radio stations and forget about using the auto-tune feature as it never lands on a station.Since I installed this antenna I am ONLY listening to music on cd or usb stick as the radio portion is virtually useless now.YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

Part for my 1992 Nissan 240sx
(need help locating/removing original - read below)
First of all I dont actually know how well or poorly this antenna works. I got it and was excited to finally fix my radio, but when I went to install it I said "...whaaaa" and realized this was not even close to the factory model and was not direcly compatable. After looking a bit more into it (as I should have done prior - duh) realized the following:
Be WARNED - YOU MAY NEED A CONNECTOR or other parts as well to fully install on your vehicle!
I also realized that my motor was fine (as it ran, just antenna didnt move up all way) and I just need a mast (track was broken in like 9 parts)..which has been hard to find to stay compatable with the original unit.
But, part does seem well built and has many custom bases as described.
TO HELP UNINSTALL Original:
For those of you like me, never done this so had to research on how to even get to the antenna. (youtube helps)
Either buy and use correct tool, or use clean, narrow, needle nose plyers to unscrew the cover FROM OUTSIDE OF CAR where antenna extends from car itself (youll see 2 little holes near antenna tip). This inner piece pulls out after unscrewed. Remove the rest of the base/cover that remains (so 2 pieces)
From truck, pull back interior cover/pannel to get to metal frame/panel. You'll see 2 or 3 screws holding the antenna mount to the wall as well as a plastic arrow type clip which secures some of wiring.
After those are removed it should be free to pull out further. Disconnect the antenna cable, 2 power connectors at bottom, and the rubber drain tube.
Comments about Metra Power Antenna:
Do not assume that this is a direct fit for a 84 Trans Am. There is a lot of customizing to do to make it fit.

Comments about Metra Power Antenna:
This antenna isn't manufactured correctly. The polarities are mixed up. The antenna goes DOWN when you turn the radio ON and the antenna goes UP when you turn the radio OFF. I has a terrible experience wiring this product only then to find out the unit was defective. I would NOT recommend this product.
