Purolator PCV Valve

The PCV valve is one half of the crankcase ventilation system - the other half is the breather filter. The breather flows clean air into the crankcase through a hose on your air filter and the PCV valve lets dirty air and crankcase gases out. These dirty gases and air get sent through the engine to be re-burned for clean emissions. An old PCV valve can cause rough engine idle, blown oil seals, fouled air filter and fuel system, fumes in the passenger compartment, excessive engine part wear, and shorter oil life. Although the PCV is not a pollution control valve, a worn out PCV valve can contribute to air pollution. So, it’s important to change your PCV valve for the safety of your vehicle - and the environment!

The PCV valve will normally be located on the valve cover of most engines. You will see a large hose connected to the valve inserted in a rubber grommet. This will be running from the valve cover to the intake box or intake manifold.Answered on 11/21/2011 by Vincent from AAP

on a 2002 dodge ram 1500 sport with a 5.9l (360)motor, on the pass. side of motor about half way back there is a round brass piece with a screw in the middle and a plug of some sort plugging into it, what is this? it is leaking antifreeze out of it slowly on my dodge motor, only leaks out when motor is shut off.
