    K&N Makes An Excellent Product!

My gas mileage went up on the very first tank after the install. Throttle responce was noticably chrisper. The fact that the filter is washable and reusable is huge.

Couldn't be easier to install, but after 2 weeks I haven't noticed much difference in overall performance.

I hope it helps the engine "breathe" better, but we'll see if it helps at all. I also track MPG constantly and I'll see if there is any change.

Comments about K&N Panel Type Cotton Gauze Air Filter:

I'm a fan of K&N products and have a full intake system on my truck which I love. This purchase was for my daughter's Xterra she had recently purchased. I had found an AEM at an online retailer for a good price and when I tried to install it the filter just wouldn't fit. It was too big and the box wouldn't latch closed. Very frustrating. The K&N product installed perfectly and the job was done in less than 5 minutes. Since I already have a recharge/cleaning kit for my truck I'm all set with the Xterra when the time comes to service the filter.

Comments about K&N Panel Type Cotton Gauze Air Filter:

I've owned my k&n air filter for over 8 years. Perfect fit for my 2003 Nissan Maxima. After the original air filter needed to be changed, decided to get this reusable, washable, increased performance filter. It was well worth the money.

Noticeable acceleration increase on pick up and highway speeds. Sound of the engine is more aggressive, not so much as an after market air kit, but still impressive for a replacement pop in filter. Also received around 1.5 mpg more than factory filter. Still works great after multiple cleanings. Recommend a fan on low speed to increase drying time for cleanings.

Recently purchased 2 filters for my sisters. Recent rebates and online coupons made it hard not to. Also they asked for a recommendation on a brand to buy, both were looking for a new air filter.

After 163,000 on a daily driver 2000 Infiniti G20 I finally decided to stop wasting money on disposable filters. The filter dropped in with no issues. Car runs great. Cost for the next filter change is zero!

I used a coupon code found on the Advance Auto Parts page of http://www.sphinxracing.com/Advance_Auto_Parts.html to make a good value even better!

Comments about K&N Panel Type Cotton Gauze Air Filter:

The air filter appears to be of high quality and was easy to install (but this likely depends on the make and model of your car). The first day I drove my car after replacing the air filter, I got the impression the car was more responsive on acceleration. However, I do not know for certain whether or not the car's performance increased, I suspect that it didn't or just increased slightly. It is too early to evaluate the air filter's impact on gas economy, how the filter performs over time, or how effective cleaning it will be when the time comes.

You can't really go wrong with K&G products. The warrenty of one millions miles is kind of hard to compete with. Overall it was an easy install and if you buy the filter kit, maintaining air filter is overall very simple. I don't see or feel the added horsepower, but with a warrently and quality of K&G, you can't go wrong.

                          A:

A K&N Filter needs to be serviced every 50,000 miles. More frequent service may be necessary under extreme conditions such as off-road use where dusty conditions are prominent. Tap the air filter gently against a hard surface to dislodge loose dirt. Always tap a filter on its base or side and never tape a filter's edges because this may damage the element. Follow this up by gently brushing the filter with a soft bristle brush. An old toothbrush will work well for this. Use a genuine Filter Cleaner in either spray-on or liquid form. If a spray is used, be sure to coat the entire element and allow it to soak for 10 minutes. Use the liquid form by filling a pan to a level where the filter element is submerged beneath the cleaner. Rinse the element with low-pressure water such as from a household faucet. Do not use high-pressure spray as this will damage the element.Shake excess water from the filter and allow it to air dry at room temperature. Carefully hanging the filter in the outside air works well. A K&N Filter will not function properly without sufficient oil and will require more frequent re-oiling of the filter's clean side in between cleanings.

The real deal here is the fact that they can be washed and reused over and over again.

Also, if you were thinking of gaining horsepower, you should get a cold air intake. But only allow for a 1-4% increase in power and provides better airflow.

With this air filter, you won't really have a horsepower increase that is noticeable. May a 3-5 horsepower gain at most.

I recommend using Part No. 99-5050 for cleaning the K&N Air Filters -
K&N Air Filter Oil is the only oil specially formulated to work in combination with the cotton fabric in K&N Filtercharger® elements providing a superior air filtration system. When used as directed, it quickly penetrates the filter pleats, where it remains suspended in the cotton fabric. Saturation is maintained until the element is cleaned with K&N Air Filter Cleaner.
