I have been an amateur painter of my own and family cars for 10+ years with mostly good results, This clear coat was the worst product I have used by far.

I'm not sure how the other reviewers are getting such good results with this clear coat, but it is disappointing after it cures. The finish is not what I was expecting and it required additional work to get it right.

Yes it is premixed and very easy to spray, but this presents TWO issues: you get less clear coat for the money since the reducer is mixed in; it is so runny that you go through the can very fast. This means you have to use more product to get a single coat on. Additionally, the coats will be very thin.

After it cured for 3 days there was SIGNIFICANT fish eye in the paint, even though it laid down very flat and look very glossy while curing. Another brand I used laid down flat AND cured flat.

This clear coat also does not like other kinds of paints, namely the rattle can touch up paints (which are thinned automotive paints, not spray paint) and cannot be put over lightly cured paint. It is best to let the paint cure for a day otherwise it cracks and peels the paint underneath.

This is cheap and only good for cheap jobs.

This is a great product that is easy to use. Covers and flows well. Can use over decals to clear and gives a high gloss finish. Easy to buff out any fine trash. I use 1000 to 1500 grit and soapy water before the final buff. Using 3m polishing compound.

I myself couldn't get the gloss anywhere close to the rest of the car. I ended up having to apply to the entire fender because it caused flaking where I tried to blend with the rest. I am having to go with a different product that unfortunately Advance doesn't carry.

Use of a tack cloth is necessary to keep dust off the surface just before spraying the clear coat. The finish is excellent and is dry to handle in less than 30 minutes, fully cured overnight. I sprayed a deep blue metallic with a mid-coat metallic for added depth and then the clearcoat. Very nice color and easy to use paint.

I used the Duplicolor Paintshop system to paint a replacement body panel for my track day car. This was my first attempt at using a spray gun and real automotive paint to do this type of paint work. The Paintshop system does not require reducing which is what was appealing to me.

I was pleased with the product overall. The panel required some wet sanding after the primer coat and again after the clearcoat but the results were better than I had expected. The orangepeel that I experienced on the primer coat was probably the fault of the spray gun/air pressure/garage environment instead of the paint. I have been told that thinning the paintshop paint slightly helps it lay down better and I may try that next time.

With my new confidence in the product, I am going to tackle painting a whole car.
