Original plug has 77K miles. Even though Ford maintenance manual recommends changing at 100K miles, it is probably best to change at 60K. Especially on the 5.4L which can collect water or moisture around the plug and rust. This Ranger has a 3.0L corn burner. Still runs and starts fine, but I want to get new plugs before winter. These plugs would probably go the 100K miles. I have read Ford engines can be tempermental about which plug they use and since the existing plug has been so good, replacing them with the OEM Motorcraft plug.

These may be Motorccraft but the quality is not all that great. Started to put these in and then decided to check the gap. The gap was way over specs. I had to pull all the plugs out and regapped them. Wasted time!!!!! I guess I should have checked the gap on the first one. Some of the electrodes were not centered over the center electrode and I had to reposition them. They will work but at five dollars a plug, they should be right on.

Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment Finewire Single Platinum Spark Plug:
I have used these for many years since I bought my truck 10 years ago. I bought 6 new one this week and installed them.. Took about 15 min to do all 6 of them. My truck started miss firing bad. I took them all out and check the gaps (recommend by advance) and sure enough all of them were .16 off so I had to take about 30 min to re gap them. Once they were gapped correctly everything work perfect like I have always come to expect from my spark plugs. My mileage actually increased an average of 5 MPG.

Great OEM product. I will never put anything in my truck that is not OEM. Anything other then OEM is just a waste of cash when it comes to plugs. Autolite wires are my preferred OEM wire.

Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment Finewire Single Platinum Spark Plug:
Replaced old Autolight plugs and replaced with these Motorcraft plugs and used Autolight wires in my 2.5 Ford Ranger. Have noticed a lot quicker starts since. Remember to put anti-sieze on the threads and dielectric grease on the electrode to make future removal easier. Whoever installed the old Autolight plugs did not and I had to use a 3 foot breaking bar on my ratchet to break them free, thought I was going to snap the old plugs off in the block.

1 of 6 was defective in manufacture. No questions ask when I returned it for replacement. (Very obvious defect!)
Standard replacement plugs - worked as expected. (Just check the gap. I had to re-gap them for my car.)
Gotta love ordering online with pick up at the store. Easy, convenient, and ready for pick up when I arrived.

possible reason for insulation on elrctrode to break off..the plug is AGSF 32FM installed 5000 miles ago in 1999 ford taurus 3.0 V62 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It could of been the wrong temperature of a plug, torqued down to hard or to loose, or the spark plug was a bad plug.A:
Plugs can get damaged by pre detonation or pinging in the engine under load. There can be a lot of reasons for pinging to happen but on my 2001 Taurus it needed a good top end engine cleaning. I used SeaFoam and it seemed to take care of the pinging under load. It could also just have been a bad plug.Q:
When I checked my 2002 Taurus manual it calls for a different plug than this and when I checked my repair manual this plug is listed for the 2003 Taurus and above. This is an AGSF32FM and my manual calls for AWSF-32F. Will this plug work in my 2002 Taurus without a problem?2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Check and see if one plug is hotter or colder than the other that it calls for.A:
The AGSF-32FM is a single Platinum plug where only the center electrode is Platinum. The 2002 Taurus' coil is designed to where half of the plugs,(3 on the V6),fire from the ground electrode over to the center electrode, instead of the way that a plug would normally fire, from the center electrode to the ground electrode.
