Haven't installed the new oil drain plug yet, but I have high hopes for it. I ordered the magnetic version based on the Advance Auto Parts technicians advice. I have a high mileage, hard working engine in my 2000 Chevy Silverado and this plug is supposed to attract any metal shavings that may be floating around in the oil pan.

I have installed these on every vehicle I have owned and I have owned quite a few. They are a simple and cheap preventative maintenance item that is too easy to install and can save you a bundle if and when any metal shavings find their way into your motor by keeping them from recirculating throughout your engine and causing possibly thousands of dollars in damage to your car or truck. I think every car should come from the factory with them, personally.

I would be glad to review the dorman drain plug if i had been given one. i sent my son to p/u my order and they gave him a different brand non magnetic drain plug. I had already waited almost 3 hrs for my son to get home from work and the plug was at least the right size so i said to hell with it and used it. wont do this again.
