I bought this as an exact fit replacement for a bad water pump on a 2003 Ford Focus ZTW, and it was. Previously, I had thought it was the thermostat that was faulty and had replaced it. On this model, the thermostat attaches to the water pump housing, so when I discovered the pressure hole in the old pump had failed (this pump had a small hole on the underside that is sealed at the factory with a thin piece of metal. When the pressure gets too high, it is designed to fail to release fluid and protect the rest of the system), I ordered this pump as a replacement. On this model, there is a small indention stamped into the wheel well in the engine compartment right across from the water pump. It is just enough to pull the old pump off it's mount, invert it, and wiggle it free. Understand, tolerances here are less than 1mm. It literally took me 10 minutes to unattach all the hoses and wires and mounting bolts, but an additional 25 minutes just to figure the puzzle out and get it just right to remove the pump from the engine compartment. So be patient and good luck! Just as tricky installing this new one, but much quicker if you pay attention to the orientation of the old one as you remove it.

This is a new assembly and not a reman unit. The notable difference is the cast iron impeller rather than an OEM plastic impeller. Mine came with a gasket and four mounting bolts inside the box. No water pump pulley bolts but the originals were reused. Ensure you are using the correct torque specs since the mounting bolts go into an aluminum housing and could easily strip.
Installing was as simple as any other water pump replacement on a Ford Focus. Filled with fresh coolant/water mix, stop leak tabs, and tested for leaks.

I bought this to replace a factory water pump in an 02 Zetec focus. It looks well made and has metal impeller which is an upgrade from the factory part with plastic impeller. Installation went smooth but only time will tell if its truly a quality piece.

It's ALWAYS best to try & buy the part stating it is the OE(Original Equipment). It is (most of the time) exactly the same thing you are replacing just new & improved.A better quality of what is being replaced. My dad has always told me, "You get what you pay for". So, it's better to spend the extra $ & buy the OE(if available)replacement. OE fits more securely, lines up easier w/existing fittings/bolt holes, & you have the "satisfaction" of knowing the replacement part(s) is designed EXACTLY for YOUR CAR. I recommend that everyone buy the OE for their vehicle.Save the wear & tear on your knuckles, stripping nuts & bolts, running to & from the part store, ect., you get it!
