Great part. Seemed to be better than the original. Contrary to what so many others are saying about installing this part, you DO NOT NEED TO DROP THE ENGINE! You don't even need to lower it. I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport 3.3l Flex Fuel. The wheel that attaches to the water pump is made such that there is a cut out in the center that is the same shape/size as the part of the water pump it connects to. You just undo the bolts from the wheel before you remove the pump. You can push the wheel back on the pump and then remove the bolts from the pump. The whole thing slides right out. I did mine total from start to finish in about 1.5 hours. Is it a bit of a pain? Yes, especially if you're not used to laying under a van on ramps, but I've seen worse. Good Luck!

Excellent construction compared to the competitor (which had plastic fins for the impeller). Gasket seems of above average quality as well.

Only problem - I couldn't get it to fit our 2005 Town and Country (3.8L engine). It has the right mount points, etc. However, if you measure the ASC part vs. the original factory part, the ASC is ever so slightly wider, which didn't leave enough room to slide the impeller into the mount point.

I spent about 45 minutes trying to manipulate the part into place, where I could easily install the original part and competitors part. It may just have been me, though.

Comments about GMB New Water Pump:

Original water pump started making noise and water coming from weep hole. Since I have dealt with Advance for many years, they were my choice to go to. Knowing the employees at the local Advance store, I ordered the part on line and picked up at the store here in Robertsdale, Al. Pump has been instaled and working great at this time. I will continue to purchase my parts from Advance.

Comments about GMB New Water Pump:

Take a look at other reviews regarding getting the pump out and the new one back in. I don't know how consistant the clearance is between vehicles, but on my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.3L Flexi-Fuel there was one and only one way to get the pump in and out. As someone pointed out the first step is to unbolt the pulley and take advantage of the cutouts in the pulley face to move the pulley toward the pump body. Ths makes the depth dimension of the pump and the clearance to the frame rail the controlling factors.
For 20 minutes I would have sworn the pump would not fit between the two. Part of the issue is the impeller and impeller hub which protrude into the pump housing. Then suddenly, almost magically, the whole thing dropped right out. I didn't have to force it, I just had to find the sweet spot where all the diminsions worked.
Again, I have no idea if this will be consistent from vehicle to vehicle, but the best I can describe it is from the perspective of lying under the vehicle with my head toward the front. The pump had to be oriented with the top vent hole down at about 45 degrees and toward the passenger side at about 45 degrees. Then the impeller has to be rotated to minimize the clearance needed.
Trust me, this also requires faith that the magic spot really does exist.

Comments about GMB New Water Pump:

Great part. Personally, the construction seems much better than the OEM part that it replaced. Pulley mounts are great, impeller seems much more stout than original. Only issue is with installation which is a function of the engine/car body design. Certain automotive repair manuals will tell you that the pump and pulley can be removed without moving the engine and certain people have attested to this in various on-line forums. In my case, there was too little space between engine and subframe. Therein, I had to remove the pulley mounting bolts and then work around the pulley to remove the pump bolts. In my case (2005 Dodge Grand Caravan), I found that lowering the engine slightly made the install much easier however I still could not install the pump without having the pulley loosely-hung on it. Your experiences may vary. All in all however, I thought that the pump was excellent.

This pump is better then the one that came with the van when it was new.The New pump has metal fins were the old pump had platic fins. The 2006 Town&country van only had 84,000 miles on it and the water pump fins broken. You would think after paying $32,000 for the van you would get something that would last in till you pay it off.

The o-ring seal needs to be glued to keep in place when wrestling into place. Engine block needs to be shifted with a crowbar to shift away from frame to allow the pump and pulley to clear between them. Otherwise, it an easy install.

Seems to be a well constructed pump. It does have plastic impeller like the OEM. Put this on 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with 3.8. Was easy enough but hints from other reviews helped. Dab of RTV to hold O ring, yes it is easier if you lower engine mounts just a bit, spent 45 mins trying to slip it in without...gave up, then after lowering all bolted up in 30 mins, save some time lower it!
