Comments about Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W90:
Royal Purple quality is practically legendary as is, that is why I chose this gear oil. I was very happy to find out it was already formulated for positrac and I didn't have to buy anything else. I do a lot of hard core off roading, and this is what everyone around the pits agrees is the best.

Comments about Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W90:
It is a great brand, may be paying a bit for the price. Use in a transaxle is difficult to fill, use a special funnel/pump. My main issue I have with the color is that it is hard to tell if it is getting dirty quickly. Though the quality is very good for the price vs. AMSoil. Best for the price, and there is a noticeable change in shifting with my car now, less metal shavings/fragments left in the fluid vs. other products. Just my 2cents.

Comments about Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W90:
I got this because my other favorite brand isn't recommended for use in Harley transmissions.
The Royal Purple is compatible with yellow metals which means it won't corrode any brass or bronze components in your tranny or differential.
I don't know how much or any yellow metal is in my tranny but better safe than sorry.
I also like that it's easy to see on the dipstick when it's new due to the purple color,
The tranny shifts smooth and runs great.

I will not pay less for protection when it comes to lubricants. You spend 600.00 for a set of 4:88 gears from Eaton, why spend [$] for protection. To me its a no brainer.

I'm aware it says it's safe for all GL-4 applications. However, Lucas Oil Products have the same guarantee and they destroyed my Borg Warner T18 transmission. The additives in the oil weakened the 'yellow' brass and copper internals, making them break. I just got a replacement, and am not looking to have the same thing happen. This is a very common problem with 'yellow' metal transmissions. I've been informed I should use GL-4 specific oil that is not EP (extreme pressure) rated, nor should I use a hypoid gear oil, as transmission do not have the same extreme stresses as axles.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
All viscosities of Max-Gear are formulated with hypoid friction modifiers necessary for use in clutch or cone type differentials.
