When I searched your website for "Lift Support" for my 2000 Grand Cherokee, several choices appeared. There was no difference in the description (e.g., whether it was for the "Hood" or the "Tailgate" Lift support. When I picked up the part at the store, it looked really long so I asked the Associate to double check to make sure that it was the correct one. He brought up the part number and he showed me that it was for the tailgate. I told him what happened, he logged onto the Advance Auto Website and, sure enough, there was no description for any of the supports identifying "Hood" or "Tailgate". He was very professional and swapped out the part to the correct one. So much for saving time. You should consider updating your website description to add "Hood" or "Tailgate".

The previous lift supports on my Jeep Grand Cherokee would only raise the hood to about mid-forehead level. I only needed to replace one of the two supports to get it working full range.

My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee hatch has been a pain for years which it needed a board to hold it up...now it is a pleasure to use..sometimes I forget they are replaced.

With reference to your inquiry on the Strong Arm Lift Support -part# D4699, lift the tailgate and use a ladder or another object to completely support the tailgate door while you remove the lift support strut. Use your screwdriver to remove the little clip from the tailgate strut or use your socket ratchet tool to unscrew the bolts. Remove the clip with your hands or screwdriver and pull the strut from the joint. Remove the strut lift support with your hands. Pull it off the top part of the door while you hold the tailgate with your other hand. Then remove the other end of the strut from the corner of the vehicle. Pull out the little clip from the strut with your screwdriver and then remove the strut. Your lift support is now totally removed. I need the lift support for my rear glass. This glass is included in the rear door and the supports for this door are OK.
The lift support should be no more than 13" (in) full extended.
My car is a Jeep 2004 Grand Cherokke Laredo.
