The Dorman intake manifold was easy to replace. The OEM intake emanifolds are known to melt the opening for the EGR stovepipe and leak coolant from this location. The Dorman product comes with a new replacement stovepipe tube that doesn't make any contact with the intake manifold and is also easily installed. The instructions give you the exact torque specifications and order of tightening the manifold bolts. I reccomend replacing the lower intake gaskets and the Valve cover gaskets while you have everthing else apart. There is simply just more room to do so and it will only cost you an extra $100 to do and is not that difficult do either.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Plastic:
Installation was relatively easy. Pull the fuel lines, disconnect all the various electrical plugs, pull the injector manifold, pull the intake bolts, wrestle with the throttle body nuts (two of them are a bit tough to get to)then put the included gasket on the replacement intake, put the rest of the assorted parts together on the intake (watch the plastic internal tube). Be sure to clean the surface where it is going. Don't get gunk in the injector holes. Take the opportunity to inspect and replace or clean the injectors. Put it all back together and torque it based on the instructions. You will need to beg, rent or borrow an INCH/Pound torque wrench. 15 ft/lb is about 85 in/lb, but it's NOT the same! Torque on this is very important, you don't want to break any part of it 'cause cracks will make your car run VERY poorly. All-in-all, well worth the time and money. Only took about an hour and got rid of the intake leak.

Not too bad to replace. The furnished O-rings for the bottom of the fuel injectors are the wrong size and has been noted on others peoples comments.

Made better that the Delphi one I purchased from
General Motors seven years ago. I can see from the way it is made with the metal sleeve installed in the EGR passage with space between that this one will last longer. Not an easy install with removing old sleeve but probably well worth the effort. Instruction sheet with it was a help, as the one seven years ago had nothing. Found mounting bolts on the old one were loose after seven years so reinspection will be in order from time to time. Probably should have Loctited bolts though as this was the reason the second one failed. This car has only 72000 miles on it, even though it is a 1999.Seems as though the original design was flawed, and Dorman improved it.My suggestion would be to retorque bolts after a period of time.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Plastic:
The shipping time and packaging was excellent. The instructions inthe box were helpful and the overall product was just like oem part. The one thing that was disapointing was that the new lower injector o-rings were not the correct ones. I had to use my old ones as I live out inthe boondocks of Montana and could not afford to take the time to send them back through the mail and wait for the right parts to come. Nor did I want to go to town and buy ones when the ones I thought should fit did not. I would still reccommmend this part and Advance Auto to folks and in fact have.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Plastic:
This product was great, but the problem was a designe flaw that should have never happened. Not to excited about it being made of plastic causeing some unlucky people to blow the top out of the piston by the leak.I love the gasket set with the sealer already on it so if you make a mistake like forgetting the coolant elbow that goes in the lower intake. you can take it back apart without destroying the gaskets if ypu havent ran the car, the heat from running is what makes the permanent seal. I think the lower intake gaskets should come with the kit. If you are smart you will change both since you are at it.Also make sure that the brake booster vaccume line is hooked into the intake before you try and start it has a tendency to come off and alot of things hide it.

Ignore the other reviews saying it only comes with the upper o-rings for the injectore, this kit has upper and lowers now. Everything you need is in the box.

On some vehicles, there is a small chance that it could, but for further assistance, please provide the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle.A:
The OEM manifold, or "upper plenum" has an EGR passage which allows some exhaust gases to be recirculated for emission control purposes. Over time, the heat causes the passage to distort, eventually burning or cracking through to the adjacent cooling passage. When this occurs, coolant enters the intake ports, causing at the least white steam from the exhaust, and at worst, catastrophic engine failure due to lost oil pressure. The new aftermarket version has a metal tube that shrouds the EGR passage and prevents the heat damage.A:
