I have a 1969 Dodge pickup. Neither the gas guage nor the temp. guage works. I have replaced the temp. sending unit, the gas sending unit, and the voltage regulator. (The temp. guage quickly goes to extreme hot, and the gas guage stays on empty.) What are the chances this instr. cluster voltage reg. will fix the two guages? I have a 1967 jeepster convertible (6 cyl, auto) and this matches the description of the one that is defective on my cluster. Want to make sure that this is for a 12V negative ground system. Can you confirm the specs and if you know that this will work on the above vehicle ?

No. A constant voltage regulator changes the voltage going to guages so they work properly. It has nothing to do with the charging system itself except to lower the voltage going to the guages its tied to.Answered on 1/16/2013 by Big Al from Americus, GACUSTOMER CARE

This would not have anything to do with your truck not charging. The instrument cluster voltage regulator, regulates (keeps electric current at a safe level) the amount of voltage traveling to the instrument cluster (gauges, odometer, warning lights in dash).Answered on 10/9/2009 by Rob from Advance Auto Parts
