The part was used and did not work. At first, the mechanic told me that my cylinders may be bad and caused the misfire but the codes did not support that. I went to a local auto shop and got a brand new coil. Installed it and I have been driving the car ever since without any problems. Very disappointed that I did not return the part and get m money back.

                          A:

Sorry, the Ignition Coil does not control fuel pump. It deliver a spark of several thousand volts to the spark plugs at exactly the right time from a 6 or 12-volt battery. The distributor gets the spark to the right place at the right time in what is called the secondary circuit. The primary circuit initially created the large spark, and at the heart of the primary circuit is the ignition coil. We would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For further assistance, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our representatives would be more than happy to assist you.

Symptoms from our 02 Cougar was rough idle and couldn't even do the low speed limits. Options were: Plugs, Wires, Sensors, Cats, Intake Manifold, etc. So we replaced wires and plugs - no improvement. Checked for intake manifold leak - that's not it either. Made the mistake of tearing into the exhaust. Nope, still runs rough. R&R the coil pack - BINGO!!. That was it. Eureka!! Better than ever. Now it'a back to fixing the exhaust. Ugh.. I did do resister tests with multimeter on the pack as per on-line. Showed it was not within specs. Hmmm. So let's spend the $100. Wished I started there first. BTW - my mechanic was the one that said it sounded like the #1 front cat (of three cats) that might be restricted within the exhaust manifold. Swell.

I have a Ford Taurus 2001 with a V6 Fi-2-Flex 3.0 litter Engine. The coil Pack stops working ( No spark to the Plugs) I checked the Plus wire that goes to the pack with the key on and I read 12V, but the engine has no spark. If I wait a short Time and try to start it again the coil pack comes back on and the Engine runs fine. What would cause this to happen? HELP.
