Used the original dust cover and no issues to date.Just purchased & self-installed 6/4/10 in less than 15 minutes. Be sure to properly align pin in engine block before tightening. This was improperly installed after an engine replacement and is what caused the original bearing to fail.

Quality doesn't appear to be best compared to some of the OEM AcDelco pulleys. The Dayco pulley I just bought shows an obvious seem in the plastic, even on the ribs of the pulley. The actual bearing is labeled NTN & made in Canada. Ironically, the same tensioner pulley I'm replacing had NTN bearings.

After comparing both, the Duralast brand at Auto Zone is exactly the same as this Dayco Pulley, just repackaged and slightly cheaper. This makes me wonder what the real difference is in cheap parts brands anymore.

If not needed in a hurry I would have just bought the OEM AcDelco pulley from rockauto for about the same price and a piece of mind.

Slightly thicker than OEM but otherwise exactly the same. I noticed a few other reviews said it is make from plastic whereas the OEM was steel. My truck was original and both were made from plastic.

      Not exact fit

Comments about Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley:

Size is corrrect, but the way it is made, the inside of the pulley rubs on the tensioner. Also OEM is metal and this is plastic.

Comments about Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley:

The face of the idler did not have enough clearance to allow the idler to turn once the retainer was tightened. Had to modify the original retainer to use this part.

Im not sure what to think of thism It is made out of plastic, oem was steel. But it went on easily and had the same bearing manufacture as the factory pully did. I am sure there wont be any future issues with it, would of liked it to be steel

Comments about Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley:

For a DIY replacement part like this, the usual visual checks and manual spinning of the bearing generally suffice for an inspection. The 'feel' was normal and the only anomaly was a slightly undesirable flashing line where the part material was forced through the die halves during manufacturing. This is tolerable if not excessive, and will generally wear down in service and shouldn't noticably affect belt life or generate noise. The part box had been cut through as if it were on the top of a carton being opened with a box cutter or razor blade, but the part was not damaged. Domestic replacement auto parts are market dominated by offshore sources, mainly [@]. I expected this part to be same. Turns out this part is USA, and explains why the quality is better than most, and the first item was acceptable. I purchase USA (and European) where a choice is offered, and see it as a value when I pay higher prices.Advance (and the other guys) do not readily reveal country of origin of parts, and this causes me grief and caused multiple part returns in the past. I have formally asked them to indicate country of manufacture for their web part selections, and if they would do this they will become the first stop parts source. Right now I'd still suggest shopping the big three equally for USA made parts first. Call and ask if you can't determine from the postings.Advance is at the top with discount coupon options, so be sure to always do a web search for unadvertised codes, always 15 percent available, and the 20 and 30 percent discounts are periodically available. Try code P20 if nothing else...

You may be able to but i would consult your vehicle manufacturer because sometimes you can bypass the compressor with the same size belt but the belt is put on in a different sequence.

Yes, you just have to put this idler pulley right here up underneath the compressor and put the belt on it instead of the compressor. Most vehichles have the secondary routing drawing under the hood.

It very simple, (1) remove the passenger side wheel. then you have access to the idler pulley itself. (2) release tension from serpentine belt with 15mm socket and extention. (3) remove pully thru bolt. reverse steps for installation.
