this is real steel, not plastic aftermarket junk. very easy to install, strong, runs quite, looks great. you may wanna go ahead and replace both pulleys when you have to replace one, i wound up haveing to pull belt twice. which requires a ladder on my truck. this is the heavy duty idler pulley, it cost a little more but it is not plastic,, and with the torque my motor has prefer real steel..

Comments about Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley:
Purchased one 18 months ago. Lately started to wonder why I smell this burning rubber oder. Turns out that the plastic bearing inserts cracked letting water in. So at high RPM 3000+ the uidler is dragging and unable to keep speed. This in turn causes burning on the back of the belt. Another example how parts mfg's create these cheap parts to wear out ande make profit. Warranty is only 1 year so I out of luck.

Comments about Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley:
Worked fine for what it was designed for. The online database said it was for the idler tensioner. It isn't. It is for the Idler pulley. The Idler Tensioner needs a different pulley. When I went to the store their database brought up the correct part. Buying online saved me the 20% but it cost me an extra trip because the parts database was wrong.

how can I tell if a pulley that broke (don't have the pieces) was smooth or ribbed for a 2007 dodge ram 1500?3 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Where on the engine was the pulley? Was it turning an accessory? You can usually tell by the belt routing diagram if you look at it and think about how the belt would be sitting on that pulley.A:
Ribbed pulleys usually go on the inside of the belt; smooth one go outside.A:
ayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulleys are built with smoother surfaces and tighter dimensional tolerances, which translates to less vibration and, therefore, longer belt life. Lubricated ball bearings and double high-temperature seals help ensure peak bearing performance, the most critical element of a pulley''s service life. This specific "flat", serpentine belt driven steel pulley contains a specially formulated e-coating that resists corrosion and offers wear resistance under harsh conditions.Q:
how can I tell if a pulley that broke (don't have the pieces) was smooth or ribbed for a 2007 dodge ram 1500?2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
I would recommend taking a look at the belt and checking if there is any unusual patterns on it, but with out looking at the actual pulley that would make it complicated.A:
if the pulley roles along the outside of the belt it will be smooth if it roles on the inside of the bibbed belt it will be ribbed
