With reference to your inquiry on the BWD Idle Air Control Valve - part# 21738, the idle air control valve may be the possible cause of the problem on your GMC Jimmy. A:

The idle air control motor or valve is a device in charge of maintaining an acceptable engine idlespeed by letting a controlled amount air passed the throttle plates. This acceptable idle speed is determined by what the ECM considers to be the “DESIRED IDLE”, which is an actual PID on the scan tool. The ECM is constantly comparing the actual idle engine RPM to its internal pre-programmed desired idle speed. The inability of the ECM not to be able to match these two values creates a problem for proper idle operation. Not all scanners provide the desired idle PID, and there are variants of idle air control valves. In essence, they all accomplish the same thing. The IAC motors/valve is directly controlled by the ECM, regardless of the type.

It seems your EGR valve is sticking or the passages are plugged. So check the EGR system to resolve.

It was low on oil. Has a fuel pump shut-off that stops the engine from running with low/no oil. When I turned right, all the oil moved away from the oil pump, then the engine quit. Put in 3 quarts of oil and it hasn't quit since.
