Works great, but you need to disconnect the battery to reset to car computer before it will work. It didn't work at all till I disconnected battery, then it registered and has worked great.

Folks... the manager at the local store was very helpful in my returning the product...Unfortunately you did not check the part in the box as it was used and defective...I did not check it either so that is my fault...someone probably did the "switcherroo" on you...I bought the part at the ford place for more money...you need to check your returns more closely...Regards...Df

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions HVA/C Air Door Actuator:
When looking for the correct blend door actuator for your ford vehicle it is important to remember to see if the vehicle has (EATC)Electronic Automatic Temperature Control or manual air. also if you need the blend door or the mode door actuator as the two look very similar and may even bolt in place of your old ones.If the part is chosen correctly it will work. If not it will have the wrong electronics and will not operate correctly. The mode door motor can be easily identified by the words"2 position" on a sticker. The EATC units are usually marked "EATC or ATC only" and the manual ones are marked "manual".Hope this helps clarify things for some of you.I also want to let you in on a little known secret Dorman is an OEM manufacturer of components for new vehicles and usually make top of the line stuff its just hard to identify the correct part sometimes.

I purchased this one, after seeing 2 negative reviews. I hoped it would turn out okay. It didn't. My suggestion is look at the part from your vehicle and see where the plug recepticle is placed. There are 2 different parts with the only difference in appearance being placement of plug. I have Explorer XLT and will try 406-202 instead. This has the same plug location as the one I removed. Hope it works. I'll update if it works. Look up 406-202

Q:
how to repair, blend door actuator1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Disconnect battery cable, Open glove compartment, and lift tab in upper left corner to allow the glovebox to swing down completely towards the passenger floorboard. Gently remove the line that enters the "Vac Unit", and then the "Vac Unit" itself by wiggling it upwards off its mount. Once removed gently swing it towards the drivers side and out of your way. You now have access to the Temp Actuator. Carefully remove the electrical connector that feeds the Actuator. Using an appropriate drive wratchet and socket, remove the mounting screws. Once you've removed the screws you may need to gently pry the Actuator up off the blend door with a screwdriver. Installation is reverse of the Removal. The Blend Door and Actuator are both keyed, so theres only one way to put it in. Guide the Actuator onto the Door, then re-secure the mounting screws.Q:

For help with your project, I recommend getting a repair manual specifically for your vehicle. It should be able to help you with detailed instructions on how to do many things.A:
Difficult to get to. My Ford Explorer XLT needs this repair. I have disassembled center console and bezel (cover for radio). Tight squeeze to get a wrench onto, but doable. Loosen the three bolts nearest the part on the drivers side next to your right knee that secures the dashboard to the frame to give yourself a bit of wiggle room. 3 bolts and a plug. Be sure to align the part correctly or it won't move the door right. Factory part is white. Be sure you use the right part. I bought one with the plug location on the face, and removed one with the plug located on the edge. It didn't work so I have to try the other one in their inventory with the plug location on the correct place. Hope this helps
