Comments about Melling High-Volume Oil Pump:

Not much to say on it's performance because I had to return it & swap for stock volume. It's a '00 GMC Jimmy 4.3 V6 4x4 with the cast aluminum oil pan. Couldn't seem to get the proper 3/8" clearance between pan & screen - couldn't even get 5/16" - so back to the store it went. Figured the HV pump would give me a bit more engine life, since I cheaped out and skipped on doing the crank & big-end bearings, but it's a daily driver - mostly stock except it's got an Edelbrock carb instead of FI, so don't really need the HV anyway. Will be installing the stocker (Melling) in it's place.

Be sure to buy the screen and shaft

Comments about Melling High-Volume Oil Pump:

Be sure to buy the melling oil pump screen part# 258S and the steel shaft.

The stock oil pump screen from my 2003 Chev Express 1500 4.3l has a different tube size from the high volume melling pump, so I've had to return the store to get it.

Also, you must buy the steel shaft to replace the stock shaft Part No. IS-55E

Helped improve oil pressure. More oil flow in the top end make sure you purchase the hardened pump shaft it doesn't come with the pump
