The heater core in the picture is the correct one for mid to late 80"s trucks. The aluminum one that is actually available does not fit in the housing. Part #399004 will fit in the housing, but the hose connections are wrong for A/C equipped vehicles. If the ones from the old core are still good, and have been soldered in, they are easy to change. If they were brazed in, they are much harder to change.

      Comments about Ready-Aire Heater Core:

The part works great, fits nice and snug, and does exactly what it's supposed to do. I put her in and she fired right up, no problems what so ever. I love "Advanced Auto Parts". And if you have to get parts from here, always order online. The amount of time and money I have saved is substantial. Not to mention the coupon codes to save more money and get rebates. Lol, i'll never go in person again, no point when you can get the parts pretty much half off through the website. On average i save about $65.00. Always oreder online.

          Comments about Ready-Aire Heater Core:

Heater core made in Mexico. Original was damaged and seriously crooked. Replacement was bent also but not as badly and did fit into the heater core enclosure. Box was not damaged so these were assembled poorly or damaged prior to boxing.

Nice price but lacking quality control at the least.

Installed on a 1992 F-250 Super Cab 4x4, 460 cid engine. Installation of the heater core is actually quite simple on these trucks. I am happy with my purchase. Make sure that you use a discount code whenever you order online from Advance. Do a web search. Don't just go by what they have on their home page.

Generally the inlet and outlet on the Ready-Aire Heater Core (Part No. 398247) comes in the same size and it does not matter which way the inlet and outlet is used. is this very tough to install? Can it be done by going behind the glove box, which comes off very easy? What are the dimensions, are they 71/4 by 2inches wide?

                        Here are the dimensions:
Heater Core Length (in) 7.750 in.
Heater Core Width (in) 7.000 in.
Heater Core Thickness (in) 2.000 in.
Depending on your vehicle, replacing the heater core can be difficult. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

The dimensions of the heater core depend on which vehicle it is for. For a more precise answer, I recommend contacting your local Advance Auto Parts store and seeing if they have one in stock. If they do, the representative should be able to pull it off the shelve and speak with you about it.
