I changed out all of the evap hoses and filler neck hose while I had the tank down. The Fuel pump was complete so it was a two minute change out for that. Total cost saved me about eight hundred compared to what the dealer wanted. I didn't bother checking the local shops since I felt I could do it myself. Dropping and rehanging the tank was the only part when it was helpful to have another pair of hands. Otherwise, I did the rest of it by myself. All in all it was not very difficult but then I was working on a full size pickup truck so there is more room to maneuver.

Had to remove the bed of the truck to get to the fuel pump (removing the tank was out, as I had no transmission jack and a full tank of fuel). Remove the bed bolts and disconnect the tail light and license plate lights from the wiring harness, also remove the axle vent tube from the underside of the bed. Some of the bolts come out easy, some you will have to either cut or drill out. Four inch carriage bolts (1/2-13) with fender washers and lock washers do just fine as a replacement until you can order more bed bolts from the Ford dealer. Lift the bed up and off and the fuel pump is right there. Unbolt it, unplug it and swap it out with the new one. Prime the pump by turning the key on two or three times and start the engine to see if it works. Put it all back together and drive it. After two weeks the pump is working great. Fingers crossed that I never have to change it again. Good pump at a great price, my only concern is the warranty.

The pump and sending unit fit great and have worked well. I'm very pleased. The installation of the unit was the easiest part of the job - getting to the fuel pump is the difficult part!

My installation was a 2000 F150 4WD Lariat supercab with 5.4l V8. I had no issues with the Airtex fuel pump itself. But I would recommend you get the any replacement fuel lines prior to install. I was shocked that NONE of the auto stores (including competetors) had the fuel lines. Make sure you change your fuel filter as well.
Check your fuel relay, fuse and collision fuel cutoff switch before swapping the fuel pump.

All the dimensions and fittings where exactly the same as the stock unit. Truck fired right up and runs like a champ. Only negative is the ethanol soot on the vent hoses that covers you when removing the tank.

I've asked once but needed to provide additional information...that is already entered, but here goes.
